This weeks Power Shifter of the week is Michael Crowe.

Not only is he organising Ride2Power a two week bike ride from Melbourne to Sydney, and a Sydney based riding event..

He’s running in a marathon to promote Power Shift but on top of that

He has just secured $3000 dollars of funding for people coming up from La Trobe University.

For those of you that are attending another conference by one of AYCC’s member groups (ASEN’s SoS conference and/or SONA’s RE:HAB Congress), you’re able to claim an either further discount – 20% off of the regular ticket price! Online organising is a fantastic way to spread the word, get more people involved, and build momentum – and in the case of Power Shift it’s worked.

Since last Tuesday, the Power Shift Facebook group has grown from just over 1,600 people to 3,647 (as of this minute, but it’s still going up)! This is an amazing effort, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed…

Amanda McKenzie and Anna Rose, AYCC Co-Directors, went to Canberra yesterday to give testimony at the Senate Select Committee on Climate Policy – expressing the views of the youth climate movement. At 10:44am, during a break in proceeding, Senator Louise Pratt took some time out to write on our Wall (check it out here):

Power Shift is going to be the first ever youth climate change conference in the country. To celebrate – and officially launch this momentous event – we’ve decided to hold launch parties, just for you, all around Australia!!! Here in Melbourne we’re gonna have a fundraiser party to celebrate the good things that can come out of pro-activism and initiative!

Where: Eurotrash, 18 Corrs Lane (just off Lt Bourke St between Russel and Exhibition Sts)

When: Thursday 7th May at 8pm

Cost: $10 at the door. This covers the awesome venue and helps to raise money for Power Shift!

Come along with your friends dressed up as your favorite superhero (or make up your own) and give generously to this worthwhile cause. There will be prizes and drink specials throughout the night!

The night features THE MELODICS supported by TOM TUENA and party goes till late with tunes to take us to the wee hours with a local DJ.

This week’s Power Shifter of the week is Lucy Manne the Victorian Recruitment Coordinator.  Lucy and the Victorian team are doing very well.  The Victorian team are thriving with an amazing launch party coming up on the 7^th of May at Eurotrash-it will be a fabulous party with a social conscious!

Lucy is also organising a fab cross campus trivia night and the details will be released very soon.  Congratulations Lucy for doing an amazing job!
